Capacity Building Supports enable a participant to build their independence and skills, including:
Support coordination:
Supporting a participant and their family to navigate the NDIS and better understand the possible options for their plans. For example, this support may provide insight into how the participant’s budget works.
Improved living arrangements:
Assisting a participant to find long-term accommodation. For example, by strengthening the participant’s ability to complete paper work for accommodation services and understand their obligations with rent and payments, as well as daily decision-making around planning and budgeting.
Finding and keeping a job:
Including job searching or finding an appropriate course to study, as well as support to maintain a job through assistance with selection of appropriate transport.
School leaver employment supports:
Including work experience, job site training, travel training and activities that contribute to achieving an employment outcome and linkages to ongoing employment support.
Improved health and wellbeing:
Such as assistance with exercise physiology, gym strength and personal training hydrotherapy.
Improved learning support:
Supporting the participant to transition from school to further education, skills training to improve language literacy and numeracy, support with managing academic workloads and resilience training to deal with stressful educational situations.
